Here, our aim is to become your budget bestie!
About me
I have been in your shoes. I went through high school and my first attempt at college with little to no education about personal finance. But hey- I did learn how to balance my checkbook. That wasn’t enough. My first time in college I went to a far too expensive college that I couldn’t afford. I qualified for financial aid, maxed out what I could qualify for student loans, AND still had to pay about $300 a month in tuition payments each term. I had no clue what that would mean for me down the road but I quickly learned it wasn’t sustainable and I didn’t love what I was going to school for.
With an opportunity to take a full time job, I left college to pursue that. (Spoiler alert- less than a year later that business did layoffs and that included me). I spent the better part of my early adulthood working various jobs in customer service and doing a poor job of managing my money.
Later Adult Life
Then I met my now husband. A guy who within a couple years after finishing his Bachelors, had already paid off his student loans because he was good at prioritizing paying off his debt and putting his wants aside. I could have learned a lot from him. It still took me time to get myself educated and now here I am, wanting to help educate others about personal finance, debt management, credit cards, and teach them what I wish I knew sooner.
It really became a reality to me when we were expecting our first child and I quit working my part time job on top of my full time job… but I kept spending money like I was still working both jobs. Quicker than I realized, I ended up with more high interest debt than I care to admit and for the first time in my life, I made a budget and stuck to it. I know that you can to!
I hope you learn something while you’re here with me, that we can learn from each other, and become budget besties!
Good luck! You got this!
